Vienna is an incredibly popular destination, and for a very good reason, thus it’s always bustling with tourists. It is quite easy to visit Vienna by plane, and getting to and from the Vienna airport can be a quick affair, so strap in and enjoy this masterpiece of a city.

See the Gorgeous Architecture

Vienna used to be the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, as well as the home to the famous Habsburg dynasty. During the course of their reign which spanned several centuries Vienna saw an architectural boom like no other. Many of those buildings still stand, and they continue to display the magnificence they were intended to project. The Rathaus, a neo-Gothic city hall with unique aesthetics, is one of many notable examples. The Imperial Apartments, also known as the Kaiserappartements, is an enormous building complex which was the summer home of the Habsburgs and has over a thousand rooms. With the numerous museums, palaces, and old buildings, the architecture in Vienna is absolutely stunning.

As one of Europe’s cultural centers, Vienna is filled with practically an infinite number of museums, each one as amazing as the last. The Habsburgs were known for their affinity to art, so it’s only natural that one of the highlights of Vienna’s museums is Kunsthistorishes Museum which is the home of the imperial art collection. It’s an inspiring building full of numerous works of the old masters, as well as plenty of priceless coin collections. The Museumsquartier is another fantastic cultural complex, one that’s filled with museums of every kind. From 19th century Austrian art to shocking contemporary pieces, Vienna has it all.

Experience Vienna’s Musical Soul

Few other destinations in the world have as much musical history as Vienna. It was the home to many different masters of music throughout the ages, like Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Strauss, and many, many more. Vienna can be easily considered the city of music, especially since it is the home of the Musikverein, one of the world’s most famous concert halls. Not only that but modern music easily finds its place in Vienna, as there are numerous venues that regularly host some fantastic performances.

Centuries of the imperial rule have brought a certain elegance to Vienna. There is a sense of gastronomical refinement not found in most cities across the world, so when in Vienna expect to be treated to some of the world’s finest dining. With dishes like goulash, or the world-famous Wiener Schnitzel, it’s no mistake to simply savor the food once in Vienna. The wine is also quite extraordinary because there are plenty of vineyards of the highest quality around.

    • Thank you, Ryan 🙂 Personally, for me there is another big plus – it is never as hot and humid as in SE Asia, so just walking around is such a pleasure.
